Case Study 3: MacBook only booting up to question mark symbol

A student took his Macbook to the MacStore genius bar to have his MacBook looked at. The MacBook was only booting up to the question mark symbol. The engineers in the genius bar looked at the hard disk and diagnosed that it was a physical failure. They replaced the disk in MacBook but could not recover the data from the broken disk. So the student dropped off the disk to us, we diagnosed that the disk had a read/write head failure and would need to be replaced.
