Edinburgh Data Recovery · est. 2000

Edinburgh's data recovery specialists.

Working from central Edinburgh, we recover failed drives and SSDs, broken RAID and NAS units, dead flash media and forensic evidence — for households and businesses right across the country — from creative studios and tech firms to households with one irreplaceable folder. As Edinburgh’s secure data recovery experts, we handle all of it on our own bench — diagnosis free, nothing owed on most jobs unless it works, and a fixed price agreed in writing first.

// recent recoveries

Recent jobs, off the Edinburgh bench.

A few write-ups from the Princes Street bench this past while — identifying details held back, every result verified before it left the lab.

// CASE 2026-031recovered
Desktop HDDNTFSHead failure

A read/write head gave out on a customer’s desktop drive, sealing off a decade of family photos behind it.

The heads had stopped flying and the drive sat silent. Matched donor heads went in under clean-air conditions, a careful image was pulled past the fault, and the file tree was rebuilt from the copy rather than the ailing original.

// CASE 2026-027recovered
SanDisk 512GBSD cardNot reading

A wedding photographer’s card stopped mounting the morning after the shoot — nothing deleted, nothing formatted, just gone.

We cloned the card forensically before anything touched it directly, then rebuilt the file system on the copy with a deep carve running behind it for anything the fault had orphaned. Every frame came back.

// CASE 2026-019recovered
NETGEAR ReadyNASRAID 1Two red lights

Two red lights on an Edinburgh architecture firm’s mirror, then a DIY rebuild that overwrote its own metadata.

Both drives were imaged past their bad sectors, the array reassembled virtually from whichever image held the healthiest copy of each region, and the file system repaired on top. The shared drive came back whole.

// your data, your country

Your files never leave Scotland.

A lot of recovery firms quietly courier your drive off to a third-party lab — occasionally to another country entirely. That never happens here. Every recovery is worked from first look to final handover by our own engineers on Princes Street, and your media stays in Scotland the whole way through.

// 01

Worked on our own bench

Every job stays with our engineers — nothing is passed to a subcontractor or another lab.

// 02

Stays in the country

Your drive and its data remain in Scotland at every step — never posted abroad, never handed off elsewhere.

// 03

ICO-registered & GDPR

Registered with the ICO (No. ZC173784) and fully GDPR-compliant, with an NDA available whenever you need one.

// devices & services

Every device, every way it fails.

A seized desktop drive. A NAS caught mid-rebuild. A snapped USB stick. A ransom note on a server. However it reached you, our data recovery services usually reach it the same way — imaged first, worked in-house — and it usually goes home again.

// why edinburgh data recovery

A quarter-century of the recoveries other labs wouldn’t attempt.

There’s no call-centre here and no drive quietly posted elsewhere — just an Edinburgh data recovery service staffed by our own engineers, twenty-five years at the bench, and the equipment and patience to take on the cases other firms hand back.

01

Pay only on success, most jobs

On the majority of jobs nothing is owed unless we recover — and you see a full file listing to check before you commit a penny.

02

Everything stays in-house

Your drive is opened and imaged here in Scotland by our own team — never subcontracted, never sent away.

03

A free, written diagnostic

A no-obligation diagnostic and a fixed price in writing before anything begins, so nothing on the invoice is a surprise.
