Every recovery at EDR follows the same road, and each step is a promise you can hold us to: the look is free, the price is fixed, the decision is yours, the hands are ours, and payment follows success. Here’s the whole journey.
The price is agreed before any work starts, and most jobs cost nothing unless the data actually comes back.
Call 0131 202 0491 or use the free diagnostic form. Describe the device and the fault and get honest first advice immediately — free, no obligation.
Drop off at 83 Princes Street or post fully insured. For RAID and NAS, send just the disks, each labelled with its bay order.
Our engineers establish exactly what failed and what's recoverable, then you receive a fixed written quote — usually within 24–48 hours of arrival.
Nothing chargeable happens until you approve. On your go-ahead the recovery runs in-house: imaging first, repairs where needed, your files extracted from the copy.
Recovered files return on new media or by secure transfer. On most jobs, if we don't recover your data, you don't pay the recovery fee.
Behind the five steps sit the house rules. Imaging before everything: your original media is copied once, gently, and all recovery work happens on the copy — the patient is never gambled with. In-house means in-house: no job is subcontracted, couriered onward, or handled by anyone whose name we don’t know. Fixed means fixed: the written quote is the invoice; complexity discovered later is our problem, not your bill. And honesty over hope: when something is genuinely unrecoverable — fully overwritten data, a wallet with no keys anywhere — you hear it plainly at the diagnostic stage, for free, not after a paid attempt.
Typical shape: diagnostic complete within 24–48 hours of the device arriving, recovery finished 3–5 working days after your approval. Post adds a day or two each way. Genuine emergencies can be prioritised — say so on the first call.
Then you owe nothing and the device comes back to you — the diagnostic was free and stays free. No pressure, no storage fees for a reasonable decision window, no hard feelings. The quote is information; what you do with it is your call.
The honest print: a small minority of jobs — typically severe physical damage needing expensive donor parts, or forensic-grade work — are quoted with a diagnostic or attempt fee made clear in writing before you decide. If your job is one, you'll know before committing, never after.
