The decode: the half-sighting, the sound, and why tonight's test could only cost
The half-sighting, translated once more: Device Manager was seeing the enclosure's USB electronics — powered, present, answering the register. My Computer needs the drive behind those electronics to complete its own start-up and offer storage — and his never got there. The pattern places the fault squarely inside the drive mechanism: the doorway answering, the resident unable to rise.
His theory, graded generously: "the read head as it attempts to read" is close enough to score. That regular buzz-and-beep is the head assembly cycling through failed attempts — sweeping for the critical information it must read to declare itself ready, missing, resetting, sweeping again, the mechanism straining audibly at each pass.
